New ANGEL ePortfolio 2.1 Advances ePortfolio Assessment

For Immediate Release - July 28, 2008

Indianapolis, Ind. – July 28, 2008 – ANGEL® Learning, recognized innovator of enterprise course management software and services, today announced the general availability of ANGEL ePortfolio version 2.1. Developed in collaboration with the ANGEL community, ANGEL ePortfolio 2.1 is even easier to use. Tight integration with the ANGEL Learning Management Suite (LMS) enables instructors to implement ePortfolio activities and assessment from within a course.

“Building on its learner-centered foundation, ANGEL ePortfolio 2.1 provides students enhanced usability, and tighter integration of ANGEL ePortfolio with the ANGEL LMS makes using the portfolio within a course natural,” said Ray Henderson, chief products officer, ANGEL Learning. “Tight integration also benefits faculty and institutions,” Henderson continued. “As learning outcomes and portfolio assessment become increasingly important across the educational spectrum, ANGEL ePortfolio 2.1’s new ability to integrate coursework and assessment into the portfolio experience provides a new methodology for collecting and managing evidence of achievement.”

  • Integrate Coursework and Assessment into the Portfolio Experience

A new ePortfolio drop box in the ANGEL LMS allows instructors to assign ePortfolio work from within the LMS, making it much easier for faculty to incorporate ePortfolio activities and assessment into course curricula. Tight integration with the ANGEL LMS means ANGEL’s comprehensive suite of native tools extends to evaluation and reporting of ePortfolio activities.

  • Build Evidence of Achievement

ANGEL ePortfolio’s new ability to set portfolio achievement exercise due dates prevents students from modifying an achievement exercise or its attached artifacts beyond a specified date. Exercises locked from modification maintain integrity for assessment and reporting activities.

  • Improved Usability, Increased Flexibility

ANGEL ePortfolio 2.1 and ANGEL LMS 7.3 now sport the same user interface and both use ANGEL’s inline HTML editor. Consistent design with the ANGEL LMS makes ANGEL ePortfolio even easier to use, flattens the learning curve and reduces customer training and support costs.

New publication templates in ANGEL ePortfolio 2.1 offer students more options for creating publications, leading to greater creative freedom and professionalism. Additional search capabilities enhance ePortfolio’s collaborative aspects. User-by-user permissions to view publications give students control over who can access which ePortfolio publications.
